The launch which took place at the Hyatt Regency the Kilimanjaro Hotel in Dar es Salaamwas officiated by the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Finance - Tanzania, Dr. ServaciusLikwelile; the Resident Coordinator of the UN system and UNDP Resident Representative in Tanzania, Mr. Alvaro Rodriguez;and the Executive Director of the Economic and Social Research Foundation, Dr. H. B. Lunogelo.
ESRF Director of Programmes and THDR Project Manager, Dr. Tausi Kida together with Prof Marc Wuyts from the International Institute of Social Studies (ISS) presented the highlights of the main contents of the report; while Dr. Kenneth Mdadila, Department of Economics, University of Dar es Salaam. presented the highlight on the Statistical Annex of the THDR 2014.
Over the last decade, there has been a change in the focus of development policy away from mere quantitative changes in the rate of output, towards a concern for the changing qualitative nature of economic growth encapsulated in the concept of economic transformation.
